Just eighteen years old, Gwen Howard is already making a splash in the music scene. She has played at some of the hottest venues in the Bay Area including Hotel Utah and Red Rock Cafe and is looking forward to increasing her solo artist presence. Howard writes and arranges music and has won “Best Song” and “Best Performance” from the West Coast Songwriters. She is currently fronting the Bay Area-based band Human Parallel, an alternative-pop band. Gwen also plays several instruments including piano and guitar. Howard has spent several years in Cantabile Youth Singers based in the Silicon Valley. She believes that making music is a central part to creating strong communities.

Howard’s sound has been described as alternative folk, with strong influences of Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple and A Fine Frenzy. Her musical inspirations include Jillette Johnson, James Vincent McMorrow, and Nick Drake. She enjoys experimenting with distinct styles of music such as classical, folk, and world music. Her songs generally center on an acoustic sound with a solid melodic presence.

When not making music, Gwen Howard is an activist for human rights and road safety. She enjoys dancing, nature and spending time with family and friends. In the future, she hopes to keep performing and composing.
